Today we caught the bus out to the Botanic Gardens and then walked through the gardens and visited the Orchid Garden. Caught the bus part of the way back then walk down Orchard Road and looked at all the shops. At night we went out to the the lights at the Marina Bay Sands.
33 degrees today in Singapore. We went down to the Gardens by the Bay and this evening walked up to Bugis Street.
Arrived safely in Singapore. On the 24th floor of the Carlton which is just across the road from Raffles. Have a great view down to the harbour. The smog is really bad. Local schools have been closed and 2 days before we arrived the hotel was advising people not to go out.
Walked around the Louvre on our way to buy tickets for the next day. Visited the amazing shop called Lafayette where everything has a huge price tag.
Botanic gardens and walk along the river. Sat and watched the barges and boats on the river being controlled by traffic lights.
Walked 20 kilometers today. Mainly visited some markets and then wandered the streets nearby. Walked past the Pompidou Center on our way to the Eiffel Tower. Took the lift to level 2 then changed lifts and went right to the top. After that we had dinner then went back to the Eiffel Tower to take some night pictures. We took a cruise along the river at night see the lights of Paris. We were so tired we caught the train home.
Walked too far again. 19 km in total. Met up with Manon and Camille our friends from Holand and Denmark.
No wonder they guillotined King Louis and Marie Antoinette. 800 room palace set on 2014 acres of gardens. Caught the train out an wandered around most of the day. Then went out to dinner in an unusual restaurant with people sitting on balconies around a centre courtyard . We were absolutely exhausted as we had walked over 20 kilometres.
Rain rain go away. Notre Dame, Crypts in the rain. Ate an icecream at the WORLDS best icecream shop. Last photo is the back of our apartment.
Arrived at our apartment about 3 o clock. It is in a really lovely part of Paris and the apartment is excellent. Beautifully furnished and all very modern. Wandered around the local streets and bought some groceries at the supermarket. On our second day we walked to the Museum d'Orsay and Rodins Garden. Continued on to the Eiffel Tower and then walked back along the River Seine.
On the way to Glasgow we visited the Falkirk wheel. It's a one of a kind rotating loch system. We rode the ferry up the loch went through a tunnel turned around and came back down the wheel. At about 2 o'clock we return the car to Avis. We have done about 1200 miles.
Tomorrow Paris.
Drove to St Andrews mainly in the rain. Wandered around the town looked at the university and the golf club. Continued on then to Anstruther where we visited RNLI. The streets were so narrow that the GPS lost signal. We then walked around the harbour in the rain and then continued on to our b&b.
Set a new record for walking today when we walked around the old part of Aberdeen and then when we reached Stonehaven followed the cliffs around to the Castle. In total 18.48 kilometres. We certainly slept well in or accommodation just beside the harbour in Stonehaven.
